They Will Be Afraid and Ashamed Because of Their Worldly Savior

Demonic activity is the thrust behind holding humans captive to others humans. It is demonic activity that has taught men to go to war and use weapons against other human beings. After all, God’s plan for humanity is redemption by the remission of sin that comes to us by accepting what His Son Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross. As Jesus Christ said of Himself; “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Our hope for liberation is not in the ability of earthly military strength, but our hope comes from the Kingdom of God through the Holy Spirit. In today’s scripture text it says, “And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation” They expected Ethiopia to be their salvation in time of trouble, but instead of salvation they got fear and shame. So it is when we trust the powers in the kingdom of this world instead of trusting the Living God through the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Israel rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah because they expect an earthly Savior. Even in the days of the preaching of the Apostles, the Chief Priests, Scribes, and Pharisees were very distraught to hear the Apostles tell them that they were responsible for crucifying their Messiah! The Apostles were persecuted and murdered for preaching that message. Today, who will Israel turn to as demonic activity continues to snowball forward in these days where the spirit of the anti-Christ increases in intensity? The United States will not be there for them, and I’m sure Israel will feel fear and shame when the United States is no longer able to support them to maintain worldly peace. In fact, things become so chaotic for Israel during the reign of the anti-Christ that they sign a peace accord with the anti-Christ. Even then, a remnant of Israel will come to the Cross of Christ to accept their Messiah, and will rejoice at the words of their Savior, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”

Adam and Eve had their own way in the Garden of Eden when they fell to the deception of the serpent to obtain the knowledge of good and evil. They believed that they would be as gods! Instead, they felt fear and shame at the appearing of the Living God. God did not recognize their fig leaves by which they clothed themselves because a fallen human being cannot use the perfection of the Garden of Eden to dress themselves. The One True God reproved them, and made them clothes from animal skins. The very first foreshadowing of the Cross of Christ that God would provide for the remission of sin! “The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.” Once we realize that we are fallen, and cannot obtain the same purity we once had, we don’t even try to clothe ourselves with the fig leaves from the Garden of Eden. We realize we need to accept the clothes that God provides us through His Son, the sacrificial Lamb!  “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Trusting in the powers of the kingdoms of this world is equivalent to inviting demonic activity to enter into the relationships of humanity. It results in fear and shame! It results in conflict, hurt, violence, betrayals, disappointment, disparagement, ridicule, and eventually the Great Tribulation into the Battle of Armageddon! Satan’s only objective is to cause misery for humanity. BUT, when we accept what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross, Satan, the anti-Christ and all demonic powers are remitted. The remission of sin in our own heart remits the activity of Satan. By the Spirit of Christ we are separate from the ways of this world, the expectations of the flesh, and from the system of the anti-Christ. We are set apart as citizens of the Kingdom of God, anticipating our eternal Home in the New Jerusalem. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” “The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.” “The Spirit of the Lord is upon (Jesus Christ), because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”

Please, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Scripture Text
“In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it; At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot. And the Lord said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia; So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt. And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory. And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?”                           Isaiah 20

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”
Luke 4:18
