Daniel 9:26 gives it all to us in just that one verse!
Here we have Jesus Christ giving His life on the Cross for the redemption of humanity, we have the anti-Christ who seeks to destroy the Holy City and Sanctuary, and the Battle of Armageddon that desolates the world as we know it today!  “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”

The above scripture text puts everything into a very concise capsule. 1) Jesus Christ will give His life for the redemption of humanity. 2) The anti-Christ will come to destroy the city and the sanctuary. 3) The end will come with a flood whose war will make desolate.

1) “And after threescore and two weeks the Messiah will be cut off, but not for himself:” I like that Daniel, a Jewish person, makes it clear that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, who will die, not for His own behalf, but on the behalf of others. When thinking of the terrible, terrible, tribulation that is about to come on this earth, it is good to know that we have a Messiah that we can to turn to for our Salvation. Today, right now, is the time to accept what Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross. It’s hard for people to understand how a dead person is our Messiah, but He is risen from the dead and is alive. He is a Messiah that saves our spirit and soul form the clutches of Satan, the anti-Christ, and all demonic forces. When Christ Jesus died on the Cross, that death also put to death the dominion of sin in us. When Christ Jesus was buried for three days, that burial also buried our sin into a tomb. When Christ Jesus rose again, that resurrection also will resurrect us into the Kingdom of God! When Christ Jesus ascended into Heaven, that ascension will also be our ascension to Rapture us out of this cruel, cold, and turbulent hour of tribulation.

2) “The people of the prince that will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary.” After Jesus Christ gives the world the altar of the Cross, the prince comes to destroy the city and the sanctuary. The prince is the anti-Christ. Satan’s one mission is to steal, kill, and destroy everything related to God’s plan of redemption. The Jewish people gave birth to the Messiah who will cast Satan, the anti-Christ, and all his demonic forces into the Lake of Fire, to be in torment in Hell forever. For that reason, Satan seeks to annihilate Israel! Likewise, because believers accept what Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross, Satan seeks to hurt us as much as possible as well. As the demonic forces lay the groundwork for the system of the anti-Christ, many followers of Christ Jesus will suffer severely because the Chief Cornerstone is not used to build upon! Then, when the groundwork is laid and the anti-Christ appears, Israel will be greatly persecuted!

3) “the end thereof will be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” This speaks of the Battle of Armageddon, the natural disasters, the famine, the plagues, the chaotic turbulence around the world, and all such things rushing in like a flood. All these things will totally desolate the world as we know it today. Jesus Christ will return on a White Horse to put an end to the chaos and to usher in his 1000 year reign on earth. He will create a New Heaven and a New Earth. He is the stone that smites the ten toes, or the feet of the ten global kingdoms. Another way to think of the terrible, terrible, tribulation period is that this is the total destruction of wickedness! In the process, Godly people will suffer greatly, but when all is said and done, the wicked perish and the righteous have eternal life!
