I was watching a few documentaries on rich and famous actors who lost their lives due to excessive drug use, excessive alcohol consumption, sexual indulgence, and even excessive eating. They all seem to start great, relating to their not being involved in Hedonism, but they go down hill fast when they are accepted into the “in group.” Hedonism is the pursuit of pleasure; sensual self-indulgence. The United States, in general, seems to be serving Hedonism, and added to that there is the influx of violence. The world is definitely drunk relating to their spirituality because there is no respect for the body as the Temple of God, and there is no love for God. “Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!”

“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be! Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.” But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”  1 Corinthians 6:12-20

“Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:” Sin is destructive, and as this world becomes full of it, it will be cast down with a tumult and destruction like a flood overflowing the land. Jesus Christ gave His life on the Cross to put sin into remission, to save lives and to save souls. When sin is in remission, Hedonism goes bye-bye and we live life in the Spirit of Christ. Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy our body, our life, and our world, but Jesus Christ defeats Satan by what He did for us on the Cross. Hedonism might make us “right” with certain peer groups, but we are not redeemed with corruption and temporary pleasures. Jesus Christ is our Redemption!  “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”  1 Peter 1:18-19

“In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.”

Scripture Text
“Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet: And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.”  Isaiah 28:1-6
