All The Merry Hearted Do Sigh

I have been reading news articles about the legalization of marijuana. I understand that smoking marijuana causes a lot of laughter and giggles. But, we look around the world and we wonder where is all of that joy and merriment. There seems to be an unwritten law against expressing the type of joy that flows from the spirit and soul. In a way, it makes the use of marijuana a magnet for those who oppose the sounds of laughter and merriment. In a way, it attracts conflict, anger, and violence! In our world today, all the merry-hearted do sigh. The modern god of knowledge, a component of the anti-Christ, seems to oppose the joyful qualities of the human spirit. That’s because Satan’s mode of operation is to kill, steal, and destroy. For those who think that parties with alcohol, drugs, and sex are for fun, merriment, and laughs, today’s scripture verse says it best; “They will not drink wine with a song; strong drink will be bitter to them that drink it.”

“The new wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted do sigh.” Christ Jesus is the New Wine and He is the Vine. When we accept what Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross there is the remission of sin and a rebirth of joy through the Holy Spirit. The New Wine mourns and the Vine languishes when our world tosses aside faith in the One True God, rejects the Message of the Cross of Christ, and opposes the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. As the spirit of the anti-Christ intensifies in strength, there will be more and more persecution of those possessing a joyful spirit and soul. In Genesis 19:5, the men of Sodom wanted to rape the male Angels that were in the home of Lot. Likewise, as in the days of Noah, before the flood, so will be the coming of Jesus Christ. There was no joy and merriment in the heart of Lot at this time, the Angels must have mourned at having to blind the eyes of those wicked men, and God was certainly looking at the city of Sodom with fire and brimstone in His eyes. Even so, Jesus Christ gives us a promise; “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

In the Book of Revelation, which describes events under the reign of the anti-Christ, it is written; “And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;” Come to the Cross of Jesus Christ! “…if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” Let us find our joy and merriment according to the treasures in the Kingdom of God, and reject the merriments within the pleasures of the kingdom of this world.

Scripture Text
“The new wine mourns, the vine languishes, all the merry-hearted do sigh. The mirth of tabrets ceases, the noise of them that rejoice ends, the joy of the harp ceases. They will not drink wine with a song; strong drink will be bitter to them that drink it.”    Isaiah 24:7-9 King James Version (KJV)

“But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast in those days.” “And no man puts new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.”  Mark 2:20, 22

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

“And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;”                                       Revelation 18:22

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”.            2 Corinthians 5:17
